REFUSAL OF SERVICE
Dirt Pawz Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse to groom any dog for the health and safety of the groomer and/or the dog. A muzzle may be used. Services may be discontinued if Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming determines that a dog presents an unsafe condition. Such conditions include but are not limited to: behaviour issues, health problems and parasites. I agree to inform Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming prior to grooming if the dog has ever bitten any human, another dog or has any aggressive tendencies whatsoever. I understand and agree that I will be held solely liable for any harm, injury or property damage caused by my dog.
Included in all of our bathing services (except Wash and Dry) a hygiene clip is included for all dog coats which may require one (excludes smooth coats such as Pugs). The hygiene areas include under the armpits, down the stomach, around the groin and bottom. Often wool, double and silky type coats develop knots & matting in these areas due to a lack of brushing. When clipping these areas, the risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions increases due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Once the coat is removed, the skin can be red due to a lack of air circulation and dirt accumulated underneath, which your pet may scratch and rub & may lead to infection if not kept clean. Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming will not be responsible for any vet bills that result from shaving out these matts/knots as it is the owner's responsibility to keep these areas free from knots/tangles and matts. Should my dog require veterinary treatment due to clipping/de-matting in the hygiene areas, I the owner am responsible for any associated costs.
ACCIDENTS & BEHAVIOUR
There is always the possibility an accident could occur. Every effort will be made to ensure your pet is groomed as safely as possible. Grooming equipment is sharp, even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, clipping of nails, etc. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around. Accidents are more likely to occur due to bad behaviour such as trying to bite the groomer & or equipment. We agree that every effort will have been made to groom as safely as possible.
Should I have to cancel my dog's appointment, I agree to notify Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming with more than 24 hours’ notice to the scheduled appointment. I agree that if I cancel or don’t show to 2 appointments, a 100% deposit will be taken when booking the next appointment. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given for cancellation of appointment, my deposit will not be refunded.
It is my duty to make sure my dog is free of parasites before entering the salon; I will use appropriate flea and tick prevention on my dog. If my dog is found to be carrying fleas the groom will not go ahead.
If my dog suffers from any allergies, I agree that I will make Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming aware of such allergies and either provide a veterinary shampoo or give Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming permission to use a hypoallergenic product.
If a dog requires more than 3 hours work due to excessive matting or an overdue appointment, Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming reserve the right to stop the grooming and request the dog comes for a return visit at an additional charge to the owner.
OLD AGE DOGS
If my dog is of an age that Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming considers to be elderly, only grooming work that they will tolerate will be carried out. Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming will not cause undue stress to an elderly dog; however, all work will be attempted.
Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming has my permission to do whatever they feel is appropriate for the wellbeing of my dog. Should they determine that veterinary care is warranted, I the owner agree to pay all associated fees and costs. If my veterinarian is not readily accessible, Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming is authorised to use a veterinarian of their choice.
I give Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming permission to take photos/videos of my dog during the grooming process; the photos may be posted on Social Media and might be used in promotional materials.
I give Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming permission to use my details for confirming appointments via SMS & e-mail and for marketing purposes.
I understand that Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming will give me a collection time and for every hour I am late, I will incur a £5 -day care fee.
I agree to pay all costs for the grooming of my dog including but not limited to: special handling requirements, de -matting and fees due to late drop off/pick up. I agree to pick my dog up at the arranged time.
HUMANITY OVER VANITY
We groom humanely at Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming and will attempt to de-mat a coat if we feel that the animal will not suffer pain. We have specialist equipment in the salon and this will be our first port of call before considering shaving the dogs’ coat. However we will abide by the Animal Welfare Act.
It is the OWNERS duty of care towards their pet to maintain the coat between professional grooms. If owners fail to attend to their pets’ coat, then in the interests of the animal, we will shave off matted coats to prevent unnecessary suffering.
When a dog is presented to us in a severely matted condition, it is our policy to shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade. To de-matt would cause the animal tremendous stress and discomfort, often leaving a very thinned and damaged coat. Shaving the coat is quicker and kinder to the dog. Many dogs are traumatised by unnecessary hours of de- matting, putting them off grooming for life. We consider shaving an act of kindness.
When de-matting is necessary, both by tools or clipping; removing heavily matted coats includes the risk of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. If this happens, it will be brought to your attention, and we are not responsible for any vet bills. There is no excuse for a matted pet, and the groomer will do their best to see that the matts are removed without trauma to the pet. In the case of an emergency, you will be contacted for permission to take your animal to a vet for treatment. In the case you are unreachable, we will take the action that is in the best interest of your pet.
Once the coat is removed, the skin can be red due to the lack of air circulation and dirt that has accumulated underneath. Occasionally there are sores or infection, this may need veterinary treatment. Dogs tend to scratch and rub their skin after shaving - this is normal, however some can over scratch and this may lead to broken skin. If in doubt speak to your vet. I agree that Dirty Pawz Dog Grooming is not responsible for any veterinary bills associated with the groom and the de- matting procedure.
NOTE: WE MAY CHARGE YOU EXTRA IF YOUR DOG IS SEVERELY MATTED.
